What is Employment Access?
Employment Access supports adults with an intellectual disability to:
- Identify vocational interests:
- abilities
- goals and
- supports required to ensure on-the-job success
- Secure community based work including:
- employment,
- work experience and
- volunteer opportunities
We Provide
- Work experience and volunteer opportunities
- Assistance in securing community placement
- Individualized Support Planning (I.S.P.)
- Information and linkage to other community resources
- Develop an Employment Plan:
- Identify employment goals
- Arrange job trials, travel, route and mobility training
- Devise steps to their achievement
- Using all approved goods and services.
- Site-specific training and skills development
- Support coordination
- Remediation and vocational life skills training
- Follow-up and consultation services
What You Receive
- Individualized Support Plan (I.S.P.)
- Job readiness instruction (group or individualized)
- Identify career goals
- Resume development and interview preparedness
- Placement services
- On-site job coaching and skills training
- Travel, route and mobility training
- Follow-up and support by a Community Placement Specialist
- Linkage with other community resources
The outcome of the plan must be to assist individuals in securing and maintaining employment. With the support of a Community Placement Specialist, the individual will develop an action plan to secure and maintain work experience and/or volunteer opportunities within their community.
